Blevins – Chief Financial Officer

THE POSITION

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the oversight of accounting/finance (including internal and external financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting), human resource and information technology functions. The CFO will be responsible for partnering with the CEO and the executive team (sales, operations and purchasing) to ensure that the company is positioned for growth.  Specifically, in the evaluation of opportunities in new markets, additional product categories, business models, mergers/acquisitions, contract analysis and capital sources.  The CFO will be expected to make regular reviews of operational results for continued improvement in operating efficiency and effectiveness. This role will lead HR and IT and make sure both functions are effective shared services for all divisions of the company.  This individual will create/implement the proper tools and perform the analysis and reporting necessary for executive and senior leadership to proactively manage the business. This position reports to the CEO

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ten+ years of proven experience as an executive financial leader in a multi-location distribution, manufacturing or related business
  • Operationally oriented, strategic thinker who has worked in financial leadership position to help maximize profitability and provide for strategic growth
  • Proven ability to evaluate new markets, new lines of business, technology platforms, acquisitions and partnerships with analytics necessary to make and prioritize informed decisions
  • Previous experience having both HR and IT as functional reports; preferred
  • Strong accounting background, experience with maximizing inventory controls
  • Ability to develop and manage teams in multiple locations
  • Deep knowledge of financial reporting with the ability to design and implement internal and external financial reporting/analytics to support operational and financial insight consistent with management of the business
  • Proven ability to create the proper financial and operational dashboards for the executive team
  • Proven capability to review and negotiate contracts
  • Technical skills and knowledge (internal control design and implementation, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology/systems to create efficiencies across the company both in finance and other functions
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to relate well to all levels in the organization
  • Servant leader who is empowering of others and embodies strong work ethic and values
  • Executive presence, approachable but confident & “comfortable in own skin”
  • Must be highly detailed oriented, motivated and self -directed
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field. A CPA, MBA or Master is Accountancy would be a plus

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Lead the company’s finance organization by developing and implementing financial/operational plans to drive growth, and extend finance-based decision-making throughout the company
  • Responsible for human resources and IT organizations
  • Management of various insurance relationships
  • Work collaboratively with the leaders of all functions, divisions and family companies to provide a service-oriented delivery of services in finance, HR and IT
  • Provide the CEO, the executive team with insight into the strategic positioning of the company for new markets, new lines of business, technology platforms, acquisitions, partnerships and business models
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the executive leadership team and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
  • Oversight of treasury, cash management, banking relationships, contract review and vendor, and related policies and procedures
  • Establish a budgeting process that outlines P/L clarity
  • Responsible for maintaining relationships in tandem with the CEO with external auditors, banking relationships and other external parties that require financial information
  • Work with CEO and senior management to analyze and execute all M/A activity including major partnerships, joint ventures and vendors
  • Define standards, policies, procedures, measures, and organizational enhancements to meet company goals for finance
  • Determine the optimal capital structure for the company including debt and equity options to support growth and potential future acquisitions; oversee balance sheet management
  • Create and define all financial reporting and business analytics
  • Lead, manage and develop teams for finance, HR and IT
